Metallica - Cunning Stunts
Company:
Review By: Alex Harris
For the past 5 years or so I have been
a huge Metallica fan. It all started when I first heard the Black Album
on tape. Since then I was hooked. I was so pleased to hear that
Metallica was releasing a DVD of a live concert.
This DVD was recorded over 2 days (May
9 - 10, 1997) in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. The DVD comes with 2 discs both
with special features on both discs including band interviews. The main
reason why I wanted to get this disc is because I had never been to a
Metallica concert. When I ordered it I had high expectations of what the
disc would be like. When you watch the disc for the first time it really
does feel like you are at a Metallica concert. This is one of the first
main stream movies to use multiple angles, and they are put to good use
on this DVD. On the three songs that have the multiple angles on it, you
can choose who you want to follow. You can follow each of the band
members during the three songs or choose the 5th angles to have it swap
between the 4 members of the band. The songs on this DVD are a lot of
the old songs that seem to be the favorites with Metallica fans, but
also has some of the new songs on it.
How
It Grades
Picture Quality: A
Sound: A
Special Features: B
DVD Overall: B- |
The quality of the DVD picture is very
good and also has excellent sound on it, mainly down to the Dolby
Digital AC-3 Surround Sound. There is also a documentary,
behind-the-scenes footage, a Photo Gallery with over 1,000 photos and
Full Motion Menus. The DVD also uses PC Friendly so you can connect to
things like chat rooms to talk to other Metallica fans. Even if you are
not a fan of Metallica you should get this DVD just for the amount of
special features, the use of multiple angles and the quality of the
picture. If you are a Metallica fan and don't have a DVD rom or DVD
player, then this DVD should be enough reason to buy one.
