One of America's hottest
comedians returns to our screens in Touchstone Pictures, The Waterboy.
Fresh from his success in The Wedding Singer, Adam Sandler plays Bobby
Boucher, the thirty something waterboy for a local American Football
team. Bobby's life revolves around supplying quality H2O to the team,
but everyone of the teams players treat him like dirt. Eventually he
gets the sack from the job he has had since he was a child, but he is
offered the chance to not only become a waterboy for a new team by Coach
Klein (Played brilliantly by Henry Winkler) but to also play on the team
when Bobby unleashes all of the frustration he has bottled up over the
years and it helps turn him into one of the hardest hitters ever seen in
America Football.

The Waterboy turns out to be an
excellent comedy. Written by Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy and directed
by Frank Coraci (The Wedding Singer). The standouts in the movie are
both Kathy Bates who plays Bobby's overprotective mama and the spaced
out Coach Klein played by Henry Winkler.
The DVD on the other-hand doesn't
offer enough extra features in my opinion. You get the basic trailer,
chapter search and a small featurette but nothing more. Thankfully the
overall picture quality is superb throughout the movie. Sound wise
everything is also excellent, there are no overbearing sounds or music
to spoil your viewing and the tackles sound perfectly bone crunching.
I can easily recommend The
Waterboy in terms of picture, sound and film quality but the poor amount
of extras is a big letdown and just stops it from getting an A.
