Director Robert
Rodriguez (From Dusk Till Dawn, Desperado) teams up with
Screenwriter Kevin Williamson (Scream, I Still Know What You Did Last
Summer) on this teen Sci-Fi, Action, Horror flick.
The storyline is basically Invasion Of The Body
Snatchers set in the 90's, in a US high school. The Faculty teachers
(Robert Patrick, Famke Janssen and Rodriguez's and my favorite, Salma
Hayek) are the ones from another planet, (Although some of the kids in
the school looked like they were even before anything happened) needing
water to survive they start to spread to the students bodies hoping to
take over the whole school and ultimately the world. It is left to a
small group teenagers (The usual Kevin Williamson teens) to save the
students, the world and themselves from the alien domination that is
happening around them.
The movie is surprisingly good, the first 40+ minutes
went by fast but then there was a slight 10-15 minute boredom factor in
the middle with very little happening but the ending is exciting, the
cast does a good job and the directing isn't bad. The screenplay from
Williamson is of his usual high quality and he managed to steer clear of
may "Slasher" moments that could so easily have cropped up in
the movie.

The quality of the DVD picture is very
good with vivid colors and very little grain cropping up. The sound is
also excellent, there does have to be a bad point on the DVD though
after all of this, and unfortunately it is a big one...There are no
extras, ok we have a trailer, but can you really call that an extra
these days? No you can't. The lack of extras is a major disappointment
for such a good movie and it lets down the rest of the DVD's high
quality.
Well if you haven't seen the film and
you are a fan of either Rodriguez or Williamson
then I recommend it just because of the quality picture and the fact
that the film is good, but if you are looking for a movie filled with
extras, give it a miss. A Body Snatchers for the nineties.
