Industries First Dolby-Certified PCI Board Zapex Technologies announced the industry's first Dolby-certified single PCI board for 2 channel and 5.1 channel audio encoding. The ZP-100 (2 ch) and the ZP-100 (5.1 ch) audio encoders deliver the same Dolby Digital high-end quality that digital audio professionals rely upon. The ZP-100 and ZP-100 Dolby Digital audio encoders are full-size PCI boards with automatic deck control by preset time codes and integrated capturing feature that eliminate the cost of a separate capture card. The ZP-100 and ZP-100 audio encoders are the only products on the market with separate digital volume control and playback. The ZP-100 will easily integrate into new or existing DVD turnkey systems since it uses only one PCI slot. In addition to only requiring one PCI slot, the ZP-100 includes distinct features that reduce audio encoding time for content holders who are creating DVD-Video titles and DVD-Hybrid disk (DVD-Video/ROM) for corporate and educational training, entertainment games, music videos, web content creation, and marketing/sales presentations. MPEG-2 quality video and Dolby Digital 5.1 channel audio will now be available for conferences, training rooms, and the desktop. With a DVD authoring tool, it is also possible to author up to eight audio tracks in different languages or different audio formats. The ZP-100 and the ZP-100 Dolby Digital audio encoders are low-maintenance products that OEMs and system integrators can rely on for easy integration into DVD turnkey systems. The ZP-100 can be easily upgraded to the ZP-100 without losing valuable production time. Zapex is virtually delivering real time digitization within reach of the entire DVD authoring and Internet communities. Both products begin shipping on March 3, 1999.
