Warzone 2100

The year is 2100. The earth has been in a nuclear winter for thirteen years. Now you must lead your troops to conquer the scavengers and reclaim lost technology to help rebuild the world.

Features:

  • Realistic terrain effects: 3D terrain, structures, people, explosions and vehicles; hills and mud slow movement speeds; roads increase movement speeds; each propulsion type performs differently over different terrains.
  • In depth gameplay: 2000+ different units to design; 400+ technologies to research; 3 large campaign maps to conquer; 24 fast play mission maps; interactive message system.
  • Action packed: Real time combat; quick decision making; fast control systems; intelligent enemies; over 100 different weapons.
  • Easy to play: Fast play interface; graphically based; quick screen navigation; fast find system for units and structures; online tutorial.
  • Cinematic effects: View action from any angle; zoom in and out of the action; smoke pours from damaged vehicles.
  • Multi-player: 2-8 players on a PC network; internet or local net action; Mpath and Wireplay ready; in-game speech transmission between players; link 2 PlayStations.

Right, now you've had the background let's talk facts. The game play is very similar to the Command & Conquer series. The controls are also quite similar, though there is a lot of control features that C&C could only dream of, like the battle view where you can, by pressing the triangle button (If a vehicle is selected) see from its point of view, and even take control over the driving of it

Originality: B-
Gameplay: B+

Multiplayer: N/A
Overall: A-

Saying that, if you haven't played games like C&C before, you will have great difficulty in picking up the controls quickly, but If you have played it before, you will master them in minutes.

The graphics are quite superb for this type of game and there is no slow down during the busy parts in the game when there is a lot going on. The music is also pretty good, but the sound effects let the game down, as I thought that they could have been a little bit better at times.

Although each level needs a good ten to fifteen minutes to complete, the game doesn't get boring and I found it to be highly addictive and fun to play.

So if you are looking for a game that's very addictive, fun to play and will last for ages, I would highly recommend Warzone 2100.
