The Sims are coming to the Playstation
2
Quotes |
"In
an all new level-based neighborhood, players can start with just one Sim
and move him or her on up as they advances through life's big moments.
As they progress through new challenges, your Sims can move into bigger
and better homes and unlock new PlayStation 2 console exclusive objects
that they can enjoy. A teppanyaki table, bug zapper, and a strip poker
game are just some of the items your Sims will discover and use to their
advantage along the way." |
Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS) today announced that The
Sims(TM) is in development for the PlayStation(R) 2 computer entertainment
system, at the company's Walnut Creek-based Maxis(TM) studio in conjunction
with Austin-based, Edge of Reality, Ltd.(TM) Players will now be able to
create and control their Sims like never before with all new level-based
game play, two-player mode, and dynamic 3D graphics. The #1 PC game of all
time will make its console debut this fall and will be unveiled to industry
insiders on May 22nd at the Electronic Entertainment Exposition in Los
Angeles.
"The #1 selling PC game of all time is coming to the number one console,
giving players a new way to fall in love with The Sims," said Michael Perry,
lead designer of the title. "We've completely redesigned the controls and
added new game play creating a brand new way to experience the game."
In an all new level-based neighborhood, players can start with just one Sim
and move him or her on up as they advances through life's big moments. As
they progress through new challenges, your Sims can move into bigger and
better homes and unlock new PlayStation 2 console exclusive objects that
they can enjoy. A teppanyaki table, bug zapper, and a strip poker game are
just some of the items your Sims will discover and use to their advantage
along the way.
For the first time ever, two players can now play the Sims together! Play
the game with or against your friends as you challenge them for popularity
points and bragging rights. You can now save your houses and Sims on a
memory card and play them on a friend's system.
Customizing the appearance of your Sims reaches a whole new level of detail
on the PlayStation 2. Like never before, players can now create and tailor
their Sims with accessories such as stylish hats, trendy glasses, cool
hairstyles and an enormous variety of clothing options. Your Sims will now
have a multitude of new features.
Just like in the original version of The Sims, players will be able to
create the perfect Sim home, customize the Sims who live there and control
their lives. But now in this version of the game, players can explore an
entirely new 3D world that harnesses the full power of the PlayStation 2
console. There is also a cast of wacky neighbors to interact with that can't
be found in any other Sims game. The new controller-base game interface
makes manipulating the Sims through the triumphs and tribulations of their
daily lives both easy and amusing. Whether it's level-based fun, two-player
challenges, or classic Sim-style open-ended game play, The Sims are new for
the PlayStation 2 console!
The Sims skyrocketed to the top of the charts when it began shipping to
stores in February 2000 and has quickly become a universal gaming and
cultural phenomenon. The Sims was the best selling PC game of both 2000 and
2001 and is now the best selling PC game of all time. Translated into 16
different languages, The Sims has inspired four expansion packs; The Sims
Livin' Large, The Sims House Party, The Sims Hot Date, and The Sims
Vacation. Combined sales for the franchise have topped 15 million units
life-to-date. For more information on The Sims for the PlayStation 2
