Epic titles from Sold Out

Sold Out has lifted the lid on the six titles that form its May additions to the £4.99 super-budget label, with Eidos Interactive’s legendary Daikatana and Vivendi Universal’s Homeworld leading the line.

From John Romero, legendary co-creator of Doom and Quake, Daikatana is a sprawling 3D epic, wherein players explore a series of first-person worlds using the titular Daikatana blade to decimate a succession of enemies. Stunning cinematic visuals, atmospheric sound and truly immersive gameplay combine to create a stunning addition to the first-person shooter genre. Homeworld is equally epic in its nature, and is a huge space opera title wherein the player traverses the universe in a story of treachery and space combat. Like Daikatana, Homeworld is enhanced by some stunning visuals, creating one of the most memorable PC titles of recent years.

Sold Out’s May collection is completed by an equally impressive quartet of titles. Urban Chaos is a futuristic sci-fi epic and is joined by its Eidos stable mate Nomad Soul – another slice of science fiction action. These are in turn joined by Excessive Speed, a breath taking all action racing title, and Akimbo, both of which have been developed by Swedish team Iridon. All six titles are new to the budget sector; further demonstrating Sold Out’s continuing quest to add premium PC titles to its £4.99 range.

The six titles will all be packaged in Sold Out’s DVD packaging and will be released with the .Now installation and online helpline software as standard. Sold Out Managing Director Garry Williams commented : “Although the industry is supposed to start grinding to a halt in May, Sold Out has predictably unveiled another strong monthly sextet of releases. But, then again, a bargain is a bargain no matter which month you’re in. And with games of Daikatana and Homeworld’s calibre available for less than a fiver, there’s no doubting that Sold Out delivers value and quality.”
