Codemasters commits to Xbox with key
brands and an exclusive new game.
October 4th 2001: Codemasters, one of the world's
leading video game developers and publishers, today gives the Xbox™ a
massive vote of confidence as it confirms four blockbuster titles for
the console.
Codemasters' dedicated
Xbox title is today revealed as being Ultimate Blade of Darkness,
a brand new extension of the best-selling PC title Severance: Blade of
Darkness.
Currently under development at RebelAct Studios in Madrid,
Ultimate Blade of Darkness is an epic fantasy hack and slash
adventure that displays some of the bloodiest combat scenes seen in gaming.
With visuals that amaze in terms of technicality and combat action,
Ultimate Blade of Darkness is due winter 2002.
From Codemasters' multimillion-selling key brands,
gamers' favourites TOCA Race Driver*, LMA Manager** and
Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing are all being developed to exploit the
future-generation capabilities of the Xbox.
Racing game fans will be ecstatic to learn that the 3.5
million-selling TOCA series continues with TOCA Race Driver. On Xbox,
the game's aggressive 14-car races are sequenced with astounding cut-scenes,
combining stunning race action with an evolving narrative thanks to the
incredible graphics handling of the console.
Codemasters' reputation for
delivering spot on sports games will be well in evidence with Mike Tyson
Heavyweight Boxing and a new LMA Manager for Xbox. Mike Tyson
Heavyweight Boxing puts players face-to-face in hard-hitting matches
while the new LMA Manager will offer an enhanced version of the
world's most popular football management game for video game consoles.
LMA Manager will be retitled in key territories utilising individual
territory branding and licenses from across Europe (see Note **).
John Hemingway,
Codemasters' Development Director, enthuses:
"With our Xbox titles we will provide a level of realism significantly
higher than on any previous platform, through the refinement and level of
detail in our graphics work to heightened audio, physics, damage modelling
and frame rates. The power of the Xbox that enables us to achieve this will
make for some of the richest, most exhilarating and dynamic gaming
experiences ever produced by Codemasters."
