Express Installation This installation method, also known as binary patching, requires the least amount of hard disk storage space. The Express installation detects the system components and installs only those updates that are necessary. This method is recommended for customers who want to reduce their download time. The Express installation is the fastest way to install Windows 2000 SP2 on a single computer but it does require a Internet connection during the installation. A Windows 2000 Pro installation via this method can be as low as 10 MB, and Advanced Server at 23 MB. The link we posted on Friday was to the 101 MB full network install. | ||

Hey way to go AW! I installed and downloaded this in less than 15 minutes. It only had to download somewhere around 11 megs for me.

I still don't see the link on their site. I prefer to install Service Packs when they're ready. Doing anything else is taking too high a risk. MS doesn't have a stellar record with service packs. They're getting better, which is why I prefer to wait until they feel comfortable releasing it. I can see this being a huge f***-up and everyone will blame MS even though they haven't done anything wrong. It was people like ActiveWin pushing it. |

| daz and ip addy boy -- why do u bother coming to aw.com then, if all you're gonna do is bitch about the early news and inside tips that they provide?? If you think it's premature, 1) don't d/l and install it and 2) don't read aw.com and just wait to find your info out after the fact like the general pop? |

littleShadow: perhaps you need a time out or something. I enjoy reading AW because they don't BS like Slashdot and other news regurgitation sites. Having run production web servers with a high degree of availability, I realize the impact of NT/2K Service Packs and they are nothing to take lightly. Just because you want to copy your Britney Spears porn quicker doesn't mean MS should sacrifice stability or security. I think it's irresponsible of MS to post it on their download site before they post a link. Many millions of dollars rest on that service pack being pristine and fully tested. If it leaks out prematurely, it could spook the industry and SP2 adoptions and trust in Win2K could be severly hurt if a bad build of the SP leaks out or there are problems with it before MS announces it officially. It has happened before and it's possible it'll happen again. Think about others instead of yourself sometimes, littleShadow. |

| A small note #15. Microsoft has a gazillion plus lawyers and MS legal monitors this site. If they saw something they didn't like, which they have in the past (or something really wrong), I would have gotten a call quicker than you could believe. |
