This evening we have had to finally shut down our Anonymous comment posting access on the website due to abuse from a small contingent of users. All this means is you now have to login with your user name to post comments. We hope that it doesn't cause you any problems and that you will continue to enjoy your ActiveWin.com experience.

What kind of abuse? Does this have anything to do with 'I Love The Cock'?

I am happy to see that the anonymnous account was closed. Is it just me or in the last few weeks have there been a huge increase in the number of people who seriously abused the system and were simply annoying?
Well, rock on Activewin!

Ah, it seems the NeoWin lamers decided to launch an AOL-esque mail/post-bomb attack.
How 1996! I wonder if they have a NeoWinHell kinda like AOHell that will auto IM bomb and mail bomb someone like a L33+ H4X0R!

I agree and disagree. I think anonymity can actually get someone to post when they might not otherwise have posted, thus fostering more conversation and more debate.
Just some thoughts ... I don't think getting rid of anonymity is the right answer, but then again, I don't really have a better solution either, so ... :)
Cheers,
John

#12: "or (2) people who were out just to say stuff like "what the f*ck are you smoking daz, you're so gay", etc. "
Heh, there's no shortage of registered users for that either!

Might I suggest that if a user attempts to post anonymously and is prompted to log in that you make it more obvious how to create a new account? I mean for me it would be pretty obvious because I am technically pretty savvy, but for it to be fairly transparent across the board, there probably should be instructions or a link of some sort saying "If you don't have a login yet, click here to create a new account" on that same log-in page separate from the side-bar "new user" link. Thoughts? Or am I just being nitpicky? :)
Cheers,
John

#25 - yeah we will do, we just had to do this change over in about 5 minutes (literally). We should have those options up very soon.

Only a number from one user who thought he would show maturity via spamming. Again, best forgotten about now hehe.

Ohwell, guess I'm not surprised. I do think it's somewhat disappointing, however.
