Mozilla finally turns 1.0 | |

More than four years after the launch of the Mozilla.org open-source project, Mozilla 1.0 is ready to browse. The group released the software on the Web for download Wednesday. Mozilla 1.0 isn't the first browser based on Mozilla code. Netscape Communications, a unit of AOL Time Warner, released Netscape 6.0 in November 2000. That release was largely judged to have been premature. Perhaps because of the negative reaction to that first release of the Mozilla code, and because Mozilla 1.0 is targeted at software developers, the organization added months and years to the development process. | ||

You forget that Mozilla has all of it's capabilities incorporated into one program. Open up MSIE, Outlook (or Outlook Express) and all the other little programs you use to equal Mozilla and add them up. TL |

#7: You should get Ad Aware (from Lavasoft). I have only had IE (5 and later) crash on me on two ocassions:
- On www.sesamestreet.org. They have poorly written Flash animations that crash Flash, and consequently IE (yes, I have a little boy who loves Sesame Street) - When I accidentally got infected with Spyware that hooked into IE and repeatedly crashed it. A friend recommended Ad Aware and it discovered and removed the spyware. No more IE crashses! Also, I still haven't figured out how people get Mozilla to run. I haven't used 1.0 yet, admittedly, but if its anything like any of the previous versions, it has a mean-time-to-failure of about 5 minutes of heavy browsing. |

I prefer Mozilla over Netscape 7.0. Mozilla is "Un-molested" and isn't packed with junk, ad's, etc... Oh, and it works :) TL |

#16: That seems to be the primary way that companies compete with MS. AOL, Oracle, Novell, Sun, and many others have been primary or partial plantifs, involved heavily in the complaint, or funding an organization which has sued MS.
When MS bests them at something, they just fire up another law suit. Sun has had several now with them, but I think that AOL/Time Warner hold the record. |

#20 - Actually it's usually easier to blame someone else than to recognize your own incompetence. A failing that is far too common in our modern society.
Until you are willing to admit that AOL, Oracle, Novell, Sun, Netscape, etc. have made some serious mistakes you really aren't in a position to claim others are biased. |
