With a struggling product line, shrinking PC sales, and a comical CEO search that seemed to lurch in three directions a day, Microsoft has become the punchline of every tech industry joke. Oh, how the geeky have fallen. As Steve Ballmer paddles away in a lifeboat made of $100 bills, newly-minted CEO Satya Nadella must right the company’s sinking ship and fix all the broken Windows. It’s easy (and popular) to predict further disaster for the once-proud tech titan. But quietly, Microsoft is doing several things well—better than we give it credit for. | ||

| They sure haven't forgotten how to alienate their smaller partners. A 50% increase in Action Pack is mind boggling. Sure they now have cloud stuff. I don't care. Jerks. |

| #2: Using Apple makes no sense to me. The issue I have is with Action Pack's huge price increase where I see no added benefit for my business. I already tested LibreOffce with our Excel and Word templates and found that ir, surprisingly, worked perfectly. So, that's what our business will be using. We only have 2 PC's running Action Pack Windows licenses. Those can be easily converted to OEM licenses which is buy once at less than half the new annual Action Pack subscription rate. I'll probably move them to Windows 8.1 Pro, which works quite well on our Lenovo laptops. Let the other "Partners" subsidize MSFT's loss of consumer Windows business by paying more for Action Pack. I can get by without it since we used so little of what it offered anyway. |

The first thing I did was rub my eyes - Time Magazine? Do they still exist? Wonders of wonders!
Here is a magazine that fits their description of Microsoft to a tee. Additionally, they might describe themselves as bumbling, inept, running their business at a loss and losing readership at dizzying clip. Meanwhile, Microsoft, the "sinking ship" had revenue of $86 billion dollars and income of $23 billion in 2013. Microsoft has increase EPS and dividends each year for the last five. On the Global 2000 list of companies it ranks 18 for profit and 10 for market value. Even if you lump Time Magazine with its parent company Time Warner, Time Warner would take 6 years to earn the income that Microsoft earned in a single year. In fact, it is so bad that Time Warner has decided to cut Time "free." In other words, it is getting rid of its crap while it still can. |

| #4: You're hilarious. The article is basically blowing Microsoft and you still, as a die-hard Microbot, shit on it anyway with your usual 'Attack the Messenger' flair. But the gem was how you used your tenuous grasp of logic to illustrate that Time isn't in a position to criticize (compliment?) what MS does because Time isn't as profitable... |
