An investment vehicle for Microsoft Corp. MSFT.O co-founder Bill Gates held 14 new stakes last quarter, including several pharmaceutical companies, according to a recent U.S. regulatory filing. A quarterly filing made on Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission shows Cascade Investment LLC and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation held new investments in Pfizer Inc. PFE.N , Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.BMY.N , Johnson & Johnson JNJ.N and others in the quarter ended March 31.
It also shows an increased stake in Merck & Co. Inc.MRK.N , to about $78 million, with 1,359,000 shares, or 359,000 more than the previous quarter.
A complete list of holdings and their values were not disclosed in the filing because some were omitted and filed with the SEC under confidential status, which can last from three months to one year.
