Microsoft, however, is on the move. The company is scheduled to open its second East Coast store in Tyson's Corner, Va., next week. That will be the 7th store Microsoft opened this year and the 14th overall (Sony has 27 U.S. stores and Apple has 245, according to their Web sites). Apparently, CEO Steve Ballmer has plans to continue opening stores. Microsoft shouldn't let much more time pass before coming to New York. | ||

And what, exactly, is Microsoft supposed to compete with? In a RETAIL store?
400 rows of Windows boxes? A few rows for Office. 1 row for Bob. Oh, scratch that last one. Apple has a full hardware product line and even more productivity software than Microsoft does. This makes zero sense. |

I would guess that software would be part of it. However, how about:
XBOX Section with kinect hooked up to big screen where shoppers could try it out. Phone Section featuring partner phones that shoppers can actually play with Partner computer Section featuring innovative designs of laptops and all-in-ones Mouse and Keyboard section.
