| If this is true, Ubuntu users will have upgraded four times between now and then. Next release is April, 2011 (11-04), then Oct. 2011 (11-10), April 2012 (12-04) and finally the Q release in Oct 2012 (12-10). |

| And Chrome will be on version 20... Whats your point? just because they add numbers to then end doesn't mean they actually change the product in any meaningful way. I can't wait for Windows 7's sequel. |

#1 Oh yeah, it's not another patch release, they call it "NEW VERSION". Sounds better, right?
Ubuntu? There is like ton of patches available every few weeks even though you just installed latest "new version" release, not even a month old. |

You say that like it's a bad thing. Open source development is a liquid process. Various projects release new code on their own timetable. |

I agree with #3 [Fritzly]: Doesn't make sense for Microsoft to miss the holiday season again. It is 2 years away. Surely they can get it out before that season.
This leak isn't much of a leak actually. Just about everyone techie who uses Windows knows that Windows 8 will be out roughly 3 years after Windows 7. I do have one prediction: the next version will be a bit like Vista - it won't sell as well because most Win XP users finally went to Windows 7. They aren't about to to to Windows 8. Additionally there is talk of changing the interface again. usually not a good thing. Some suggested Microsoft will kill 32-bit support. i don't think that will happen until Windows 9. Just too many non-native 32-bit apps out there now. |
