Microsoft Office XP Licenses Exceed 60 Million Mark | |

Microsoft Corp. today announced that more than 60 million customers have been licensed for Office XP since the product was launched nearly one year ago. License numbers for Microsoft® Office XP are more than double the number for Office 2000 licenses during a comparable time frame. "In this era of intense IT budget scrutiny, companies are seeing value in Office XP as a critical part of their business strategy," said Steven Sinofsky, vice president of Office XP at Microsoft. "The level of investment we're seeing validates our conviction that Office XP increases business productivity and delivers business value and new solution opportunities like no other desktop software." | ||

| I use it too. Btw I used Quattro Pro for years until Excel became much better and I switched. Recently I gave a try to Corel Office Suite and it sucks in comparison with Office XP. |

| I use Office XP, and this could be also attributed to the fact that MS does not sell Office 2K licenses anymore so if a company needs 2K, they have to buy and Office XP license. I have a bunch of Office XP licenses and only one install of Office XP, the license is backward comapatable and applies to Office 2K as well. We still install and use Office 2K since the Company has not cleared Office XP for general use. Some of our plugins do not work in Excel so until they do we must use 2K instead. So this could be why Office XP is doing so well, the fact that MS has made everyone buy Office XP licenses even though they are using 2K. |

#3 - You know another one now. OfficeXP is really quite nice. But I'm afraid that Microsoft had better learn that this is very likely the last release anybody will ever use. What makes XP nicer than 97 and 2k is mainly it's evolutionary cleanup. It runs a bit faster, fewer bugs and so forth. But now that it's perfect, that's it... end of line for this baby. |

I use XP too (on Windows XP Pro). I beta tested Office XP, liked it even when it wasn't finished. Liked it even more when they sent me a free copy for testing it.

Let us not forget that a lot of corporations were FORCED into upgrading to Office XP by Microsoft's new Licensing rules.

chuck101 - Actually there are a lot of features from Office97 that simply do not work well, like the web integration. Also I like the styles management in WordXP better.
It depends on what you are looking for I guess. |

Yes, smart tags are great, as well as the new task panes.
And just a side note, PowerPoint 2002 is a great deal better than 2000. |
