Microsoft's Not-So-Secret Plan to Cripple Windows XP | |

Microsoft isn't particularly pleased about the continuing success of Windows XP, which has more than twice the installed base of Windows Vista and 7 put together. So it's trying its hardest to kill the operating system that won't die, including refusing to issue security patches for XP SP2, putting many XP users at risk. Is that the right way to get people to upgrade? | ||

What a rediculous thing to say. "putting many XP users at risk"? I could understand if a company has legacy apps but SP3 has been out for too long that the typical home user should have SP3 installed by now. I suspect many of the non-business users still at SP3 are because:
1) pirated copy 2) SP3 "causes"problems and won't install [more likely the reverse, something screwy on their system is causing the problem like old leftovers of malware] 3) they are paranoid and don't want to install anything unless they have to I've *manually* installed SP3 manually [i.e. initiating the upgrade.exe myself] on maybe 75 systems and not one glitch during the installation. Companies should of known years ago that there could be issues when SP3 came out just live the eventual killing of IE6. |
