Microsoft wants OS redesign for multicore processors

A Microsoft kernel expert has proposed that developers "rethink" the basic architecture of current operating systems to fully exploit the benefits of multicore chips.

According to Dave Probert, the typical approach to leveraging the power of multicore processors is "complicated" and not entirely successful.

What I wouldn't give for good journalism... or even just basic reading comprehension.

Funny how TG Daily uses a source article containing this passage...

"Probert is on the team working on the next generation of Windows, though he said the ideas in this talk did not represent any actual work his team is doing for Microsoft. In fact, he noted that many of the other architects on the Windows kernel development team don't even agree with his views."
