Microsoft walloped Wall Street expectations. Analysts predicted the software juggernaut would bring in $17.48 billion in Q2 of its fiscal year 2010. Microsoft reported earnings per share of 74 cents; the Street was looking for 59 cents, and that was up from 47 cents in the year-ago period.
Quite! And the upshot? Microsoft stock rose 0.31 percent to $29.25 in after-hours trading. Um... ok. Businesses are going to be upgrading in huge numbers to Windows 7 in the next couple of years because the stigma (right or wrong) of Vista is gone, and they can't hold back on XP forever. But... perception is reality, I guess. |
