IE will continue to thrive in the workplace mainly due to the fact it embraces group policies and branding.
Firefox has had ppl try to make it useful with group policies but nothing near IE.
Chrome has shown that it spits in the face of admins imo. I don't see it picking up a whole lot of steam in the enterprise.

I've been predicting the demise of FF now for some time now. As far as I can tell Mozilla needs Google but Google doesn't need Mozilla. If Google pulls the plug on funding, how is Mozilla going to survive except as a small open source organization?
It begs the question of why Google wants to support a competitor. It goes without saying that no-one is going to pay for a browser.

#2: I would keep them afloat just in case.......
I would not want to end in court as MS.... right or wrong they ended up there for lack of competitors.

The article mentioned the whole legacy thing (ie 6 apps) helping to keep it in the enterprise, and while there is certainly truth to that one of the most common reasons I hear is management via gpo\ad etc as MrHumpty so accurately pointed out.
I can easily see how FF could get squeezed out marginalized eventually but as Fritzly mentioned I agree the reason they keep funding them, and no doubt will continue to for quite some time at some level is to give the appearance of decent competition and not piss off some of the open crowd. Else you end up with Google "killed" Mozilla instead of Microsoft "killed" Netscape.
It would however be pretty entertaining to watch, and really amusing for the Softies to watch that play out. /2cents

I'd imagine google support firefox for the same reason IBM support linux.
They want to undermine Microsoft!

OK, so I'll write an article thinking up some really far-fetched. Then, you write an article telling everyone that it is far-fetched.
How long do think we can keep this up?
