For those asseting that Microsoft "copied" Google, please remember, Microsoft originally created the "streetside" in 2005 which was then copied by Google and it called streetview. http://preview.local.live.com <== link for those that may have forgotten.
Far too often, initiatives and innovation that began at Microsoft FIRST, get picked up and extended by others and they're credit first, and the who copied who mills kick in and take us for a ride. It's probably a good thing that the companies copy one another. It's not healthy to assume that it's always Microsoft doing the copying - the reverse is most often true. |

#6, I remain deeply concerned about online privacy and appreciate Microsoft's current position more than Google's by a wide margin. MS anonymizes search queries instantly - Google has no policy and does not. MS similarly, has mechanisms in place to protect identities and replaces images of real people with avatars. Google does not. Do you even look at the stuff, or use it, and or integrate it with anything?

| #7: I have no personal use for street view from any search engine. I was just remembering that you used to slam Google for invading everyone's privacy with street view. Now that MS is doing the same thing, suddenly it's wonderful? |

#8, what part of replacing images of people with representations of anonymous people did you miss?
Again? and again? and again? Microsoft seems sensitive to issues of privacy and acts to protect them. Google seems to do the exact opposite. |

#9: I thought your privacy concerns were more due to just the display of locations. AFAIK, you are allowed to take pictures in a public place. Nobody has a valid expectation of privacy while in public. If wants to replace every instance of a human with an avatar, that's great but I don't think it's necessary. I just took a quick troll through some of Google's street view. Every person I saw was so obscured by lack of resolution that all you can make out is it's a human, male or female but not enough to be able to say, "Oh, that's Dave."

#11: If I do it too quickly, it'll fizz! Hey, can you see my Doctor Who "Sonic Screwdriver Pen" that I got from ThinkGeek? I hear that the UV light it shines can blind the Google Eye in the Sky.

Ladies and gentlemen if you were concern about having your face recorded..... move in the middle of nowhere; besides the obvious satellite cameras orbitating over our heads there so many survellaince camers in so many places like streets, squares etc. that I am sure my face is recorded multiple times per day.
Yes there are several ways to dodge surveillance but unless you are going to the local strip club who cares. The important thing is to be aware of what is going on so, in case it is needed, you know what to do. |
