A new report claims that Sun's forthcoming server processor, codenamed Rock, has been canceled. Rock was five years in the making, and it introduced a number of novel ideas for wringing more parallelism out of serial code. | ||

ah man... he seems like a nice fellow that makes movies that kids can watch, too - even really old ones... He never seems to take himself too seriously and has remained grounded. e.g., a nice guy.
Guess that sort of thing isn't too popular... |

Looks like Intel beat them to the punch. The new Core I7 processors perform a "Turbo" mode when only 1 thread is being processed. Very interesting stuff. Some of the following is speculative but the I7 is well documented.
