Search is a market in which Microsoft hasn't yet been able to turn a profit, and ROI on the money Microsoft has spent to date on search will likely be slow to materialize, CEO Steve Ballmer told investors. So Microsoft has to be "responsible and reasonable" about how much it invests in search, Ballmer said, suggesting that there could be consequences in not doing so. | ||

| #3: I believe the word you're struggling to grasp is "lies". Ballmer lies about the level of threat. The difference is the audience when he's lying. When he's talking to an open mic or a tech journalist (no accountability), the lies fly fast & furious. When he's talking to the SEC (serious repercussions for lying), the lies vanish. That's how he can tell the world that Linux is nothing, but when it's for real he has to admit that Linux poses a significant challenge to Microsoft's continued growth. |
