Earlier this week, Microsoft unveiled a new promotion that tries to encourage more people to use Microsoft Live Search instead of Google. Here's the way it works: Each time you search on Live Search, you receive "tickets" -- think of them as airline miles. After a certain number of tickets, you get various goodies. With 525, you get five music downloads, 1,100 tickets gets you a T-shirt, and 1,800 tickets gets you airline miles, and so forth. This comes on the heels of a similar promotion five months ago where users who purchased certain products through the search engine could get some of the purchase price back. Oh, and you have to be one of the first million to participate in order to get the tickets. | ||

Linux doesn't matter.
“We have done a lot of studies on the return rates and haven’t really talked about it much until now. Our internal research has shown that the return of netbooks is higher than regular notebooks, but the main cause of that is Linux. People would love to pay $299 or $399 but they don’t know what they get until they open the box. They start playing around with Linux and start realizing that it’s not what they are used to. They don’t want to spend time to learn it so they bring it back to the store. | I have always stressed to people that if there was real proof that there is a better solution than Microsoft, then corporations would use it. The fact is there isn't, and that seems to upset some people. |

the "Practical application of Intelligence" is the basis for "prudentia" - from where we derive prudence. Microsoft offers practical solutions to complex information needs and it is because of this approach that they are successful in the enterprise and business.
Practically, it is because of the enterprise ecosystem and business spending that information technologies are accessible to smaller businesses and consumers. The continuous and simultaneous pressures applied by the market - downward in terms of costs - upward in terms of integration, ease of use and manageability, that we all have a) the money and resources to access these advances and b) the time to discuss them. Microsoft did that and its success created a great deal of opportunity for all - competitors, detractors as well as supporters being included. |

#8: Would MS like more people to stick with Vista? Absolutely! But it is still a license sold, and isn't that ultimately what it's about? Eventually, Vista and Win 7 usage well reach that of XP. Linux never will! It may never even reach MAC usage.
"People don't use MS because it's the best; they use it because there isn't another practical choice. " You shouldn't deal in absolutes. For some people/companies MS is the best solution, for others it's the most practical. |

Oxymoron? I mean, if there isn't another practical solution (that is, all other solutions are less practical), then MS is the best (solution, becuse it is most practical). Perhaps you wanted to say something like: "People don't use MS because it's perfect, they.." |
