Microsoft's new offer of free Windows Vista support for small businesses shows how the company is trying to reshape public opinion of the operating system. In talking about the offer, Microsoft acknowledges Windows Vista's negative image -- but says it's no longer justified.

I finally picked up a copy to install in the Boot Camp partition on my MacBook. I had to find out for myself what the deal was with Vista. So far, I don't have any major complaints. The first install did go wrong. I installed updated video drivers updates from Intel that didn't seem to go over very well. The machine would lock up solid. I wiped the partition clean and tried again without mucking around with drivers. All is well.
I just received a pop-up from Windows Update letting me know that updates were installed yadda yadda. When I clicked on the balloon (bubble?) I see that a bunch of Vista updated failed to install. I wonder what the deal is on that. |
