However, there are some minor variations." The review states that their is a mandatory, 10 min install on GTAIV for the PS3, and an optional install on the 360. The review also comments that the 360 version runs a bit choppy, with pop ins and frame rate issues without the install, although hardly noticeable | ||

| Before anyone assumes this is a post to wind people up - I've posted it because I know how big the game is and a lot of people are more interested in performance rather than the downloadable content that is coming out. |

be FAIR!
It states that running from the DVD can be more laggy.... if you install the 360 optionally and the ps3 forced... it should be the same... atleast the 360 has it as optional its forced in the PS3, my brother cant afford a hard drive he has an arcade and lets just say he doesnt mind the occasional popin or stutter as long as it plays properly ... he got into gaming with the cash he had available... if your afraid of popin or stutter.... INSTALL IT TO THE 360 as well... its not fair to say that GTA4 runs better on the PS3, if its actually the same if you install it to the hd on the 360 which is an available option. Don't call one thing worse than the other if your not compairing them on even ground. |

Can't wait for GTA4 - extremely impressive graphics with great game play!.
Does anyone understand why the same game on 360 and PS3, just looks "different"?? I assume the "source" is from the 360 but when they port it to the PS3, the graphics are usually "muted". I've seen a few games side-by-side on the consoles and there is "that visible difference". Quite strange. This article also references that "muted" look of ported 360 games. |

| But they do say that the graphics are betteron the PS3 version, more characters on-screen and a better dynamic palette (I assume this is because the PS3 supports 128-bit color whereas on the 360 they probably had to do 2 framebuffers and combine them like Halo 3 in order to do the lighting) |

Who says its better on the PS3?
I've played both and can categorically state now that the game actually looks better on the 360. For your information, the 360 has the superior gfx hardware, more gfx memory and better fill rates. I suggest you go google "360 Vs PS3. Developer opinion" and find out just how poorly the PS3 actually performs in comparison to the bold statements made by Ken Kutaragi which many people seem to spew verbatim as the ultimate truth. Fact is, the PS3 one runs very choppy, especially downtown. Not talking texture pop ins but in scenes where there are lots of cars, buildings, ligting fx and NPC's and the frame rate drops quicker than a sluts knickers. But then every platform has its own strenghts and weaknesses. The only thing better on PS3 is the audio, and unless you've got a nice high end amp, you won't notice the difference. |
