Lindows opens new Sneak Preview | |

Lindows.com this week released a second "Sneak Preview" of its Linux (news - web sites)-based operating system, adding features for streamlining the process for installing new software and for viewing and printing non-Linux file formats. Lindows OS is ultimately aimed at providing an inexpensive non-Microsoft platform that can run popular Microsoft applications, such as the Office suite. However, the second preview version doesn't yet include this feature. Lindows.com is embroiled in a lawsuit over its name, which Microsoft says infringes on the Windows trademark. | ||

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!
Oh wait, I already have Windows. Why would I want to go from stable Windows XP back to old crashing Windows (or Windows on Linux, same thing)? I wonder what the mean-time-to-hack is on this OS. I plug it into the DSL or cable and how many minutes before it's compromised and ping-flooding some loser on Efnet? |

| If you're not a registered tester, it's most likely a public preview or part of a subscription service like MSDN in which case you pay for product support and/or the cost of shipping and materials. Either way, at least the main product features are present. |
