Thanks Josh. Drug manufacturer Pfizer on Thursday said it is teaming with IBM and Microsoft to launch a new venture to sell technology and services to the health care industry. The venture, which has not been named, will focus on the business needs of office-based physicians, particularly those in smaller groups who represent 70 percent of the office-based doctors in the United States, the company said in a statement. The plan is for the new company to help doctors cut costs by eliminating paperwork and automating clinical and administrative functions using Microsoft's .Net Enterprise Server and Windows 2000, as well as wireless mobile devices. IBM is providing services to help integrate and implement technologies, along with Web-hosting operations and help desk services through its call centers. | ||

Apparently some IBM higher-up said that IBM would be investing $1 billion over the next year and a half or so in Linux and Linux-based services. However, most of the IBM-related news stories I've seen in the past 2-3 months have been about IBM + MS doing something. Leave it to the penguinistas to get all gooey over some misquoting in The FUDSter-- er The Register. -daz |

IBM and Microsoft are getting on the same page with each other. Microsoft has been diving into the enterprise arena lately and has made a huge splash and is gaining marketshare left and right. With their scores in the TPC, I think everyone has opened their eyes to MS and realized that they have greatly matured in the last 2-3 years. IBM's vision for the future maps very closely to Microsoft's. IBM's WebServices strategy maps very closely to Microsoft's. Microsoft is planning to target consumers and consumer-oriented businesses more, while IBM plans for more enterprise and B2B web service sharing, but the basic concepts are the same. It's good to seem them finally working on standards that everyone can use like WSDL, UDDI, and DISCO. |

#9: ExtremeDev: Yes I have. However, they have said they're working on the forums with the new server setup, so I'm just waiting patiently. I feel, though, that the quicker they could get that up and running, the better because I'm sure it would dramatically increase site traffic. Unfortunately, that may be a bad thing given how their hosting provider is screwing them, so I'm sure they're waiting for the best time to provide optimal service. |
