As an FYI, the SP2 for WSS V.2 services sites will break existing Windows SharePoint V2 sites.
Datasheet views and other "Failure to Render" messages may appear for web parts. Seems the patch left out a bit'o Javascript. To fix this, take note: This is a known issue that has been escalated to the product team. Based on the results of their investigation a hotfix or workaround will be published as soon as possible. In the mean time if this is causing issues in your environment that require immediate relief or attention please open a support case and have it escalated with Microsoft Support. To open a support case you can use the following link to start the process:https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=11373 I can't publish the solution we applied in our centers, because MS doesn't allow that since the solution may not apply to all configurations - just know that there is a way to solve it. One will have to apply the fix to all running sites - <yummy.... that can take some time> Some code will have to be manually replaced and an IIS Reset fired. Also, once solved, make sure users dump temp Internet files and refresh applicable views. |

#2, None of those listed; however, on any server where you have the WSS V 2.0 services running, you will see an additional update for WSS V2.0 SP2. SP2 for WSS V2.0 breaks the heck out of it - it can be fixed, but it will take a bit of skill that many admins that don't also develop, may struggle with.
Also, the WSS V3 extensions are a bleeding mess and while they can be made to work, things that were once stupid proof, are tougher - specifically, the search system and the way one has to enable specific crawlers. It's a hoot! and about like E2K7 has gone - no longer quite as easy to do anything. Any case... my concern is not for Vets, but for smaller shops that may not have people with as much experience.... I do think all of it signifies that Microsoft itsefl is moving into the channel in a big way - making much harder to do for oneself, what they want to do and sell into the channel at the expense of partners. |
