Press Release |
Posted By: Byron Hinson |
The wait is almost over. “Halo 3,” the final chapter in the groundbreaking “Halo” trilogy and the most anticipated game release of 2007, has been released to manufacturing.
Three years in the making by renowned developer Bungie Studios, “Halo 3” is now finished and will begin its journey to store shelves around the world in less than four weeks. “Halo 3,” which has already set new records as the fastest preordered game in history, has exceeded one million presales in North America alone. The title is set to shatter day-one entertainment sales records when it is released worldwide beginning Tuesday, Sept. 25.

Like it or not, this title is going to be just smokin' off the shelves. I wouldn't doubt it's the best selling title for day one sales in the history of console gaming. I also picture the retail Xbox 360 units selling like crazy that same week.
The good thing, most of my online gaming will be kid FREE starting September 25th as they all move to Halo 3. THAT will be so nice. :-)

#1: Word. I used to be a regular online gamer with Unreal Tournament and its successors, but I got really tired of all the a-holes online. I wasn't into it enough to join a clan or anything organized, so I was stuck playing with the kids and the idiocy that goes along with that. I much prefer story-driven single player campaigns these days.

It's going to have to be awfully good to beat out BioShock.

Bioshock does set a new bar, and it's just an incredible game. However, Halo 3, due to it's following, and multiplayer, will smoke Bioshock. I much prefer Bioshock single player game over Halo 3 single player game....BIG TIME.

I've got a decent system and the BioShock demo chugs along on it. I haven't had the time to go and play with the various detail settings, but it's nowhere near as smooth as Quake 4 with defaults.
I've been playing FPSs since the Ken's Labyrinth days and Halo just didn't feel right when I tried it. Never tried H2.

I have given up on the PC Gaming rat-race. All the crap for the last 8 months with nvidia trying to get the 8800 GTX running right under vista (it still doesn't) was the last straw.
I finally broke down and bought the amazon 360 bundle, with Elite console, HD DVD drive and seven HD movies for $600.
I purchased Gears of War (no time to get into it yet), BioShock (about 3 hours into it), Dirt (not bad), Forza 2 (sucks).
I keep one high-end machine for my Racing Simulators (note I said SIMULATORS. There will never be true sim capability on consoles due to limited resources).
And that's it.
I'm not buying any more PC games. I'm through.

Oh, and after reading about all the crap concerning the copy protection on BioShock and the problems it is causing, I'm VERY glad I went with the 360 version.
It has almost tanked the game before it ever reached it's stride.

#7: I installed BioShock in a virtual layer under SVS. Right-click - Delete, poof gone.

Bioshock does no "chugging" on the 360 (at least not mine), so I have been pretty happy with it to say the least.
Tech, how does Forza 2 suck? I have found it to be the best sim on a console to date. Physics are awesome, livery editor is amazing for a console, and the gifting and auction house (as well as downloading others tune ups) is great.
