Microsoft's Web server software gained significant market share on rivals during March, according to a new survey, after two large domain-name "parking" services switched to Windows systems. In a monthly survey of more than 38 million Internet-connected computers conducted by Netcraft, Microsoft market share rose nearly 2 million to 12.9 million computers. Microsoft racked up a market share of 34.02, a rise of 4.89 per cent. Apache servers running on Linux dropped a similar amount, to 53.76 percent. IPlanet software from Netscape and Sun Microsystems dropped by about 200,000 to 2.33 per cent. | ||

Actually register.com does do web hosting. When you register a domain with them it goes to an 'under construction' page. They also give you the option of putting up a custom page. If you want more full featured, you pay a little extra... That's what they are talking about.
So it's like 3 million websites going to 'Under construction', and honestly doesn't really count for much. :) |

Although I should point out that the 3 million websites linking to nothing was very signifigant when it was Linux and Apache hosting them. :)

| Great point sodablue. Those 3 million sites were certainly important right up until the second they were served with IIS. LOL at the obvious Netcraft bias. |
