Windows Home Server Released to Manufacturing | |

Today we are announcing that Windows Home Server has been released to manufacturing (RTM). We have finalized the software and now handing it off to our OEM partners. The evaluation version (with 120 day evaluation period) and the system builder version are also heading into the distribution channels and will be available in the next couple of months. French, German and Spanish versions will be finalized shortly, and OEM products will hit retail shelves this fall. We're also excited to announce Iomega and Fujitsu-Siemens Computers (FSC) as new OEMs planning to ship Windows Home Server products later this year. | ||

#2, Yeah, that one would have been nice; however, it is built on a mod'd SBS 2K3, so one could run the POP service, which I may try and the platform is open to a lot of add-ins - many of which are showing up already. I have to say, it's been a great and well run BETA - very open and very active with a responsive and equally active WHS Dev team.
I just added a few more drives and have protected storage up to just under a TB formatted. It does have a backed in TSO esque' service from MS, but I don't know how much control your average buyer/user would have over various records to support things like email - we'll see how it plays out over time. |
