We would like to hear some comments about what products you would like to see us review on the site. They can be anything tech related from games to hardware from films to dvd drives, everything is open to us. | ||

Good Day:
I would like to Know what resolution various HD TV Networks Broadcast in. I have written several of them and am unable to get a meaningful reply. I have a 60" Plasma HDTV and resolutions less than 1080P show a destinctive degradation. I would like to know which service provides the best average resolution or better the best resolution. I am interested in: Direct TV Dish Brighthouse These are the local carriers available in the Tampa Bay area. An article though should cover all of the major carriers such as Time Warner, et. al. Verizon is rapidly expanding its FIOS Network to include all of the Tampa Bay Metropolitan area. They are continually bombarding subscribers with ads and broadsides about their HDTV again with no indication of resolution. FIOS is to reeach my area next spring? I'd like to see more software reviews, which also include those titles that are in various software and research departments or public BETA.
I'd also, as #1, does, like to see a section on HD, and convergence where all things PC are making their way onto all things consumer electronics. |

| I am certainly hoping with the new site that we can add a lot of HD stuff from TV's to players and software, it is something I am really interested in and I'm pretty sure that most people who view the site are. |

| When I think of ActiveWin, I think of Microsoft, so I'd like to see more reviews of Microsoft products. Particularly, I'd like to see more hardware (mice, keyboards, etc.) reviews and previews of beta software (ex. OneCare 2.0, Exchange 2007 SP1, etc.). |

What about not having reviews? When it comes to software, games, etc. I rely on sites like Amazon, Gamespot and so on. For hardware I go to hardware-focused sites. A review by one person, no matter how well written it is, doesn't give me a lot of information that I can't find on the manufacturer's site. The only difference is it's sprinkled with subjective opinion. At least the other sites allow people to provide their own ranking and opinion. Through averages I get a feel for what the product is all about. Here, one negative thought and everyone starts ganging up and it goes down the crapper fast.
So maybe the question should be, "Do you still want reviews going forward?" |

#5 - problem there is that most of the Microsoft stuff we have already reviewed, we'll always be reviewing Microsoft products, but to keep the site running we have needed to open it up more.
#6 - I don't disagree in some respects but our reviews tend to be the most popular things on the site apart from tips! |

I actually like reviews of mouse pads, mice, keyboards, sound, headphones... all sorts of things like that.
I spent an entire day reading reviews of mousepads, before ordering a couple of Xtrac Hammer pads and was disappointed when they arrived. Given my now extensive collection of mouse pads, I'd be more than happy to give some advice. ;-) |

Sodablue... haven't tried that keyboard yet. What is it that you like about it?
My personal favorite right now is the one that comes with the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 3000 (Office Depot had it for $30 for awhile, which is a steal). The mouse is OK (not great... the wheel requires too much pressure to push), but the keyboard is awesome--it's the quietest keyboard I've ever used (enough so that you can use it on the phone without sounding rude), and the touch is far better than anything else I've tried from other manufacturers (though I used to be a fan of the old IBM "buckling-spring" keyboards... but I think I've moved on now). It also has a slight horizontal curve, which requires virtually no adjustment period (although I question how much any of these "ergonomic keyboards" have any true beneficial effect if a person exercises good technique, or if they serve to mitigate the harmful effects of bad technique). I've had a couple folks at work that are used to the "natural" series (with the vertical curve), and not only did they say that they also adjusted to it quickly, but they liked it better than their beloved "natural" keyboards. I was really shocked by that. Sometimes I think the extra features on keyboards will be handy--the instant-access buttons for mail, internet, messenger, etc.--but in reality, I never end up using any of them (with the possible exception of the calculator button). I don't know if that's anyone else's experience, but I end up never considering "features" on a keyboard beyond the feel of it. |

| a little bit off topic but i woud like to see a review on Direct DVD. my version doesn to seem to work with Vista???? and i have tried in vain to write cusmoer support but with no avail. any ideas, this is a good piece of software. |

bluvg -- It has a very good touch. It's a fairly light touch, but it has tactile feedback so you know when they key has registered, withouting having to push in all the way.
I have two different models. The Lifetime Designer, which is sort of the classic style. It's a bit on the larger side, with that horizontal curve you are talking about. This one is available in multiple languages, and I happen to have to Russian one at home. The keys are supposed to last like 20 million keystrokes, but I've noticed the lettering is already wearing off after a year. The downside of the Designer is it's only available with a PS/2 cable, and while i tried a PS/2 to USB adapter, it didn't work very well. Apparently it's picky with these, there are some which are passive(the one i tried) and others which are active with circuitry. You need an active one. The other model i have is the Lifetime Classic. It's a much smaller profile, with less extruding plastic. The keys are supposed to be the same, although I find them not quite as soft to the touch. Even so it's good, with that slight horizontal curve and nice feet in the rear. The downside is that the backslash key is below the enter key, as the enter key is large L shaped. It's good once you get used to it. It's available as USB, which was my key point. What makes them great, is they are good to type on, quiet, and so forth. But what makes it better is they can be found online for like $30. If you look around at some of the other keyboards... the Avant Prime, the Hacker keyboard, DECK and so forth, they're much more money and not necessarily as nice. Although the Avant Prime is better, and might be worth the money if it's still made as solid as the old Northgate Omnikey Ultra. The DECK keyboard is crap, it lacks tactile feedback. BTW, I found I was having some arm pain, and after a long time came to realize it was the Microsoft Notebook mouse which was causing it. I stopped using it and now carry a Logitech G5 mouse in my bag. |

#12 - I gotta say... reviewing security products is tough. There's two things... effectiveness, and then how much does it f up your system.
I just started loading AVG's free version on my machines. Norton got to be too overbearing and wanting way too much money. |

| I would like to see more NON MS related software reviews, such as Adobe CS, or Norton, etc. Also, more reviews on computing hardware such as phones, mp3 players. |
