Gartner is urging businesses to put pressure on Microsoft to provide “commercially reasonable” support for all enterprise licensees running virtual machines (VMs), not just Premier subscribers. Gartner fellow, Brian Gammage, said, “Microsoft’s licensing terms for Windows Vista running in VMs are unjustified; in addition, these terms are widely perceived as being designed to delay market adoption of competitive virtualisation software.” | ||

Link #1 is to a story that doesn't mention Microsoft.
Link #2 doesn't have anything to do with virtualization. #1 What exactly are you applauding? Most companies virtualize servers. Microsofts policy is clear and generous compared to everyone else. With Enterprise Edition of Windows Server 2003 R2, you an run 4 free virtual machines on any virtualization software you choose. With Datacenter, you can run an unlimited # of virtual machines on any virtualization software you choose. This story is clearly a disguised attack by Macheads who are tired fof waiting for Leopard and want to run Vista Home in Parallels. That has NOTHING to do with enterprise virtualization! what happened to the usual lamblasting of Gartner. You know... phrases like "I wish I could get paid for spouting nonsense" and "who paid for this study".
BTW, how does this work? Do company's actually pay thou$ands to get these little blurbs from the research houses? Jeez. Some companies have too much money to spend on "advice". How about crack open a web browser and spend 20 minutes researching on your own? I know that if I had million$ hanging on a specific topic (virtualization in this example), I'd do my own research. |
