New Internet Explorer worth a try | |

The long-awaited upgrade to Microsoft's Web browser is here, introducing the masses to features available for years in rival products. My initial thought to Microsoft Corp.'s game of catch-up was "no big deal." But after trying out version 7 of Internet Explorer, the first significant release since 2001, I found a number of improvements to like. Normally, those might provide enough reason to switch to IE7 -- except that rivals like Mozilla's Firefox have been pushing forward with new tools as well. | ||

There are two long-standing issues still not fixed.
IE still doesn't print right without cutting off the right side of the page. EVERY other browser on the planet can print correctly. If you just type in a site in the address bar, such as "Activewin", it still too dumb to figure out the .com/.net part. Most other browsers handle this properly without the un-necessary ctrl-enter. | IE7, for unknown reasons, prevents my HP scanner from running. I uninstalled and reinstalled the scanner driver and HP program to no avail. I uninstalled IE7, and it scans again. I'll stick with Opera and Netcaptor on IE6 for now. This is likly a localized IE7 issue that might not reappear if a clean install of XP Pro were done and IE7 loaded prior to installing the scanner driver. I'll wait for Vista before reinstalling XP just to use IE7, at this point in time. |

Another weird thing... Every since I installed IE7 when I right-click on a zip file the system puts up a dialog telling me it may be a security risk, and if I want to continue.

| I have actually found IE7 to fix many of my site printing issues, the same issues you mentioned. Odd. |
