Vista 5536 now available for download 1st 100,000 People! | |

There is a Pre-RC1 build (Build 5536) available from Microsoft today for the first 100,000 downloads/people. It has been told to us that you may use your Beta 2 CD-key. F00,
VirtualPC is free now. Download it. There is also a VM Extensions package out for VPC now. One thing to remember. There is a bug in VPC that prevents it from reading DVD's with files larger than 2GB. The image is 2.6GB. You will need to mount the ISO using an ISO mounting utility. There is a free one from Microsoft called "winxpvirtualcdcontrolpanel_21". It's a goofy little thing but it is really simple and gets the job done. After you mount the ISO to a drive letter, in VPC assign that drive as the primary CD and boot from it. You can then install. I wonder if this isn't the same issue VMWare is having. Might be worth a try! TL |
