These ISO-9660 CD image files contain the security updates for Windows released on Windows Update on August 8th, 2006. They do not contain security updates for other Microsoft products. These CD images are intended for corporate administrators who manage large multinational organizations, who need to download multiple individual language versions of each security update, and who do not use an automated solution such as WSUS. Use these images to download multiple updates in all languages at the same time. | ||

What happend to the "Security Updates CD" that has EVERYTHING needed to bring a machine from bare-metal to updated status?
MS Hyped the hell out of this a few years ago, issued exactly ONE instance of it, and that was the last we ever saw of it. This was a great CD. It is, however, woefully out of date now. TL |

TL's right.
Microsoft could take a lesson from the guys over at autopatcher and extend the capabilities of WSUS to produce distributable CDROM's based upon a library that is "relevant" to an ogranization. I do suspect that MS is working on this - from what I see in the BETA - they do need to hurry, because when one supports clients from within slower networks, it can be a costly processes to elevate systems one comes across. |
