Part 1 of this series on using disk image deployment techniques for Intel Macs looked at the issues created by the fact that separate releases of Mac OS X exist for Intel and Power PC Mac models. This article discusses the opportunity that Intel Macs offer because of their capability to run both Mac OS X and Windows XP. There are a separate set of challenges that this poses to systems administrators who want to develop an easy method for deploying both platforms on Intel Macs and to ensure that both platforms have access to needed resources. | ||

It was more like Bill Gates laughing all the way to bank ... an XP license sold for every Mac OS X license? Wow. What a deal for Microsoft! |

Yeah, sounds like it's really working:
Net sales per unit Mac and iPod were down for the first six months 5% and 9% respectively year over year. And, of course, we have the negative ads that Apple likes so much. Yeah, their working too . . . lol |

| Just out of curiosity, is it possible somehow to purchase an OEM license of Windows for a Mac? I'm assuming you'd have to purchase the full retail version (unless they have a "competitve upgrade" option ;) ), but I wonder if it would qualify. |

You can puchase OEM versions of Microsoft products from a number of places as long as you also purchase a piece of hardware (can be anything, USB cable for example - doesn't have to be MS hardware). Note that OEM licenses are technically non-transferable (i.e., they are supposed to stay with the original PC on which you activated the software). All OEM software are full versions. There are no upgrade versions of OEM software.
