Alohabob to See Light of Day with Vista RC1 | |

Microsoft is planning to release its recently acquired application migration technology, known as Alohabob, along with the first release candidate for Windows Vista later this quarter. Microsoft acquired the Alohabob technology with the purchase earlier in 2006 of application-transfer specialist Apptimum. At that time, Microsoft said its plans for Apptimum's intellectual property and technology assets were focused on streamlining the application transfer process between older and newer computers, with an emphasis on Window's Vista migration. | ||

| This is one piece of software that Microsoft can and should improve upon. Alohabob was/is very good. But, it didn't always transfer Microsoft Office regbistry settings properly. Now there is hope that it will since MS will know how to do so. If the product improves, I'll be a big user of Microsoft AlohaBob (or what ever name the marketing team calls it) to make my job go faster. |

I think it's a massive mistake to name anything to do with Windows, 'Bob'.

Haha. Good one, Latch... though it's almost a given that it'll get a change to a "Microsoft-ish" name.
It sounds like it will be released separately from Vista. It'd be nice if they include it at some point. |
