Microsoft officials acknowledged on June 29 that the company will not meet the October 2006 business-availability target to which it committed in March of 2006. At that time, Microsoft officials said to expect retail availability of Office 2007 to be some time in January 2007, so as to coincide with the Windows Vista launch. But on June 29, Microsoft revised its schedule. | ||

I give Microsoft credit for waiting. I experienced serious performance issues with Excel, Outlook and Word in the 2007 beta 2 suite. Once, Outlook 2007 added an e-mail recipent on its own, for a "reply to all" message. After that experince I uninstalled the beta as I deem it nor ready for testing, let alone release as a beta 2.
Excel would not print the bottom part of several spreadsheets. Word, a couple of times per day, caused Office 2007 beta 2 to "force a shutdown". I hope that all the issues reported to MS get fixed as Office 2007 has a nicely improved interface and will eventually be a fine product. For now I'm staying with Office 2003 which works just fine, and Open Office 2 for the rare times when Excel 2003 hiccups. |
