Microsoft hinted the week of May 15 that it will be forced to move more jobs abroad if the U.S. government doesn't raise the cap on H-1B visas. The Senate resumed session May 15 to debate the Immigration Reform Bill, which makes a provision to nearly double the number of allotted H-1B visas available annually to 115,000 from 65,000, reigniting the ongoing debate between labor advocates who consider the program detrimental to the American workforce, and employers that consider the limits unnecessarily protectionist. | ||

| While I agree that there is no shortage of US born techies, I must point out that many of the folks from India (at least the ones I work with) are well compensated. |

| MS is putting more software jobs in India, China, etc for multiple reasons such as cost savings, language nuances, interface preferences, and cultural understandings. What is pitiful is their lame excuse for doing so. There are enough excellent programmers in the USA to meet their needs. Too bad they resort to PR lies to placate Americans |
