Toshiba Delays HD DVD Launch One Month | |

Last week, we reported Warner Bros' decision to release only three HD DVD titles, "Million Dollar Baby"; "The Last Samurai" and "The Phantom of the Opera," instead of the twenty titles originally planned for HD DVD launch. WB also announced at that time it will release these three movies on April 18. Toshiba originally planned to roll out the first HD DVD players on mid March but due to the lack of movie titles, the creator of the HD DVD format has decided now to release its upcoming HD-A1 and HD-XA1 players in April. | ||

| I long for the ancient days, before vaporware, when products were engineered and ready-to-go to production before ship dates were announced. Or, am I dreaming about that ever being the case? |

| actually i believe the hardware was ready to go but the movies in HD-DVD format have been delayed. No point in releasing the hardware if you have nothing to play on it. |

The wide scale consumer demand for this does not exist. |

| Let's see... the movies will cost more, and the player's prices are through the roof ($1000 USD???) And I have yet to see any advantage in buying one, other than the studios making even more money as they sell you old content in a new package. |

HD-DVD and Blu-Ray hopefully go the way of the Super Audio CD
