FCC Chief: AT&T Can Limit Net Bandwidth | |

FCC Chief Kevin Martin yesterday gave his support to AT&T and other telcos who want to be able to limit bandwidth to sites like Google, unless those sites pay extortion fees. Martin made it clear in a speech yesterday that he supports such a a "tiered" Internet. | ||

TL is dead on here folks....
The federal govt - by design, has a limited charter. There are a few areas where they need to be involved and one is providing for "National Critical Physical Infrastructure" - they should be racing to provision all Americans with universal broad-band and never allow a company like ATT to function as a 21st century robber barron. With their purchase of Bellsouth we are about back where we were in 84 when no one and I mean no one, dared make a long distance call - it was that expensive! So many kids on these boards have no memory of what it was like in the 60's and 70's - when having a phone was not that common and no one dared dial out of town.... it just cost too much and conversations were really short. Transit fees are tarrifs - like a usage tax. |
