Lindows.com Releases Opposition Papers for Pending Trademark Lawsuit Filed by Microsoft Corporation | |

Lindows.com today released copies of its main opposition papers to the pending trademark lawsuit filed by Microsoft Corporation at http://www.lindows.com/opposition. In the lawsuit, Microsoft seeks to prevent Lindows.com from using the term "LindowsOS" and "Lindows.com." (This press release summarizes some, but not all of the major opposition points. There are some portions which are not readable because Microsoft claims that certain facts about what they have done in the past should be kept confidential. Lindows.com intends to ask the Judge to allow them to make those parts public, but until then, this is all Lindows.com can share.) | ||

yeah, survey 15,000 people and ask them questions about operating systems and the computer industry, and then claim that those results actually prove that people are not confused by "Lindows". How ingenius?
The only thing the survey proves is that technology enthusiasts and those employed in the industry WILL RESPOND TO THE SURVEY!?! And, of course, those people know the difference between Windows and Lindows. Someone who doesn't know much about PCs will throw the damn survey away... |

| Does this mean I really can't use the term Windows to describe the pieces of glass in my car, house or any other building. Windows should not even have been allowed to be copyrighted. It is a term that has been used in many industries far longer than Microsoft has even been a friggin company. And who are these morons that are going to get confused between Windows and Lindows? Who on this earth that has or wants a computer has never heard of Microsoft or Windows? I don't think anyone is going to get confused, people in this world are not that stupid, and if they are then they deserve to be decieved. Microsoft just want to push one ore company out of business by making them pay for a lawyer and go through this crap. Does anyone really think MS will be too threatened by these people and there OS? They just don't want them around to compete, put them out of business before they really are in business. This is one way MS gets to keep there monopoly, and use some of the boat load of money. |
