Microsoft is starting to make some of the new development technology for Windows Vista available to programmers through Community Technology Preview (CTP) releases. To start introducing this technology to you (and have a little fun with it myself), I decided to recreate the game FreeCell using the January CTP and Visual Studio 2005 Express. Well depnds. as we are running an early beta of WinFX.
I would say if there is a good seperation of ui and business logic the WinFX program hands down would win in the cpu usage. memory may be a different item. because memory in a managed enviroment has a different usage pattern than in an unmanaged world. A conflicts comes from the idea of a managed memory space as compared to a non managed mem space. I will say that if you are looking at it from a pure dev usability mode. it will take the winFX developer significant less time to produce a ap that has the saem usability and then extend it over the current win32 gdi platform. IOW try to add video to a playing card in win32 gdi, while it is animated. and still be more performant the the original program. and we are talking on a early beta of the product before performance optimzations are in, and even before the api is finalized. welcome to the new age;) el |
