Microsoft and 9 States Spar in Filings | |

In a court filing yesterday, the nine states opposing the government's proposed antitrust settlement with Microsoft said the pact was riddled with flaws and, if approved, would extinguish competition and lock computer users into "a Microsoft- controlled world." Microsoft, in reply, declared that if the sweeping sanctions proposed by the nine states were imposed it would "turn the clock back on the computer industry" and "inflict harm on software developers, hardware vendors and consumers." | ||

UNRELATED COMMENT - The funniest thing just happened. I was at oracle.com checking out what they were saying... and being so surprised by just what a guerrila marketing outfit they are. Anyway, I was reading about how Oracle products can be maintained while the application is still running. HA! Then I clicked to go to the Oracle Store... and IT IS DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE.
LMAO. They claim one thing and do another ON THEIR ON SITE EVEN. http://oraclestore.oracle.com/ The Oracle Store is temporarily unavailable for scheduled maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience. For further assistance, please contact an Oracle Sales Representative. |

| But that is what is so funny RMD. They call their software "unbreakable" and give all the reasons why MS's is... and almost all of those reasons have to do with hardware failure. I'd give examples etc. but i'm in a hurry :( |

So the Oracle claim is worthless, is what we are basically saying.
Oh, and btw... I just checked and their site IS STILL DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE. So, assuming that I caught it when it started (which isn't likely)... the site has been down for 4 HOURS so far. I have sent appropriate emails to news.com so they can cover the story properly. LOL. Seriously, I sent the "news tip"... but no way in hell will they print it... C'mon CNET do the right thing. PRINT IT. |

The Oracle Store is still down HARD. I guess their software isn't as "unbreakable" as they would claim. http://oraclestore.oracle.com/ And look at what Oracle claims on their own website... "Oracle9i is designed to <b>ELIMINATE</b> the need for planned downtime and withstand <b>ANY</b> failure: system failure, storage failure, site failure, or human error. If a server goes down, your applications keep running." Wow... you guys REALLY hate Oracle, huh? :-)
IMHO, the second SQL Server has the ability to do clustered databases like Oracle, Oracle will disappear. |

Yawn! Its been just over 20 hours now... and Oracle's Store is still down. And in case you didn't realize it... their STORE is a single click off their home page. Its one of the main 6 buttons at the top of the page... right between PRODUCTS and their logo... LMAO. How symbolic.
I continue to send CNet updates, but haven't noticed a new story on their site yet. I'm sure they are busy working on it though. LMAO again. Unbreakable? Apparently, it is also unfixable too. ps... for the sake of increased viewers to this problem...
