Microsoft has picked up a gong at the prestigious annual Microprocessor Report's Analyst Choice Awards - for the best Game chipset of 2001.
In the citation, Microsoft's Xbox semi partners Intel and Nvidia (which probably did all the hard work) also receive plaudits for "demonstrating excellence in semiconductor technology innovation, design and implementation".
The analysts named IBM as the winner in the best workstation/server processor category in 2001.
IBM was chosen for "the production of its industry-leading benchmark scores and clock frequencies (for 64-bit processors" according to Kevin Krewell, a senior analyst.
So that's two awards down, only seven more to announce. But when? Timing, we guess is in the hands of the PR powers at "Cahner In-Stat/MDR (Micro Design Resources), publisher of the Microprocessor Report".
