Sun Microsystems Inc has rallied 13 enterprise-level Java licensees to its latest specification, which is expected to stimulate the market for re-usable software components, despite concerns vendors will repeat past portability mistakes in the quest for web services, writes Gavin Clarke. Palo Alto, California-based Sun yesterday presented to press and analysts the first tranche of vendors - those in application servers and tools - to have passed rigorous testing for certification with the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) 1.3 specification - finalized in September last year | ||

| Sun should stick to hardware and stay out of the software business. They attack Microsoft with substance-less comments. In short, they are a really annoying company. |

#3 - Microsoft is delivering web services today... where Sun is still only making promises.
I don't understand? I thought Sun said by the end of the year they'd have Java up and running with SOAP and such? |

| Silly us, it's anonymouse .139 again. We wouldn't expect him to say something object about Microsoft. Something like, VisualStudio .NET and the .NET framework are webservices enabled and J2EE isn't would be objective. Talk of the services (.NET My Services, I assume) completely avoids the topic at hand. |
