Two years ago, it was the kickoff of our .NET strategy. Before that, it was several memos about the importance of the Internet to our future and the ways we could make the Internet truly useful for people. Over the last year it has become clear that ensuring .NET is a platform for Trustworthy Computing is more important than any other part of our work. If we don't do this, people simply won't be willing--or able--to take advantage of all the other great work we do. Trustworthy Computing is the highest priority for all the work we are doing. We must lead the industry to a whole new level of Trustworthiness in computing. | ||

#2 - I guess it depends on what you mean by security. Windows NT has had security mechanisms built into it from the ground up that were far more advanced than what is included in Unix by default. The same functionality can exist in Unix, but it's "Bolted on" solutions such as AFS, Kerberos, etc. But the problems have not been in the security framework, but rather buffer overflows in services and such. In that regard as well, Unix is certainly no better with it's weekly wu-ftpd breaches, sendmail, etc.
I'm curious what your solution is? Or are you just tossing around worn out cliches pretending to know what you are talking about? |

#7 - I brought up Apple as well, but I note you made no comment about that. I also did not attack Unix but specifically point out the way it was designed.
Perhaps you need to define what exactly you mean by "bolt on". |
