Ok, you have a really cheap computer desk, and a pretty nice TV.
I almost bought that desk @ Office Depot.

That is Byron's TV, but my desk. I think it was $99 at Office Depot.

Great review guys. Byron you were spot on about the Media Center stuff. I think my Linksys G Bridge blows. I am going to give the xbox wireless adapter a go and see if it improves. Wired directly to the router the thing absolutely smokes.
Peace,
RA

I got the desk two years ago. Probably went down.

Thanks RedAvenger.
I too had tried wireless with my Xbox 1 media center extender kit using the official Xbox MS Wireless Xbox Networking adapter, and the performance, even when in the same room wasn't even close to the performance of Ethernet.
When I built my house last year, I had the entire house wired, so ever room is networked, and it's well worth it. I only use wireless when using the laptop and for System Link LAN games on the Xbox.

Last night at my local retailer there were more than a dozen and a half people lined up trying to get either exchanges or refunds due to the box crashing left and right, and this site gives it a rave review. Totally unbelievable.

Common sense would say you review something on your own experiences...so we did.

RH7.3, I find that very unlikely. It's already been made offical that the problem rate is less than a portion of a percent. So, for the sake of argument, on average, retailers got about 25 units. That means, at the retailer that you visited, half of the Xbox 360's were defective. That means, if it's been officially recorded at less than a percent of problem Xbox 360's, that your retailer must have dopped, literally, all of their Xbox 360 off of the truck, onto the ground, and ran fork lifts over them in order to obtain a 50% ratio. That, or your retailer got all the defective boxes.
Not to mention, I have 40+ gamers on my friends list now that have Xbox 360's. None of them with problems.
FWIW, I have been pain stakingly going to the stores with my wife doing some Christmas shopping. Of course I always drag her by the electronics as well. So far, I have never seen an Xbox 360 at an exchange counter or being returned. But I do see games and accessories flying of the shelves at the Best Buy I was at the other day. I picked up PDZ Limited Edition today at my local ebgames. They haven't had a returned 360...just a game. Said their best selling game is actually PDZ for the 360. More than any other games on the Xbox, PS2 or Gamecube game right now.
I did read that Sony hired a company to spread rumors on the internet about the 360 being flawed, and now lawsuits against them are already pending. Read this at 1up.com.

Also, commens sense would tell you not to put the unit in a confined space where it is going to overheat.
There hasn't really been much of a problem until now because before these boxes didn't generate all that much heat as the 360 does (the ps3 will probably generate even more heat).

Dude RH7.3 go spread you FUD elsewhere. I guess me and my two brothers are lucky that our 3 360's are fine... Totally lame attempt at spreading mud over the 360... My local retailer? Who are you trying to kid? I smell a jealous bum who doesn't own a 360. Seriously that was a pretty weak attempt. You want for it fail so miserably when it really is a SWEET device with some annoyances.
My big beef with it is when I start downloading something that it doesn't do it in a background process. I have to sit there and wait for it to download. Also you can't queue stuff up which would be nice. At least it caches the files so if the downloads get broken it retrys.
Thanks!
Ben

#7: Quick, go buy a lottery ticket! Using AWBrian's numbers (which seem reasonable), not only did 50% of the boxes fail, but you also just happened to be at the store, at the electronics counter at the same exact time that 50% of the buyers were all at the store at the same time returning their failed boxes! Unless 18 people were returning one XBOX, the possiblity of all 18 people all showing up at the store and getting in line are astronomical, so your chances of buying a winning lottery ticket are quite good.

RE: Crashing
In addition to the low defect rate, most complaints of crashing and other issues were also attributed to the power adapter (not the system) and people not giving the power adapter adequate ventilation in various ways (covering the vents and preventing airflow, using in a confined area, etc.). When they re-oriented the adapter, many people's problems were solved.

The failure rate quoted by Microsoft is 3%, which apparently is below industry average, although that seems quite high to me.
Regardless, RH7.3 is almost certainly lying for the various reasons stated above. If not, what was local retailer? Just post a phone number and I'll call it to confirm your story and then you can flame the forum all you want saying how you were right and everybody else is a Microsoft fanboy.

The failure rate that I have seen by quoted by Microsoft is less than 1 percent.
